The USISTD Congress in Timonium, Maryland, was my first, and  I really had no idea what to expect.  I had signed up to take my Licentiate exam while my husband and my friend were going to test for their bronze and silver medals.  That portion of our experience went well—despite the jitters.  The host studio was lovely and John Pattillo and Mandy Ball were gracious, helpful and kept everything moving along on schedule.  As a huge bonus, we had several excellent lectures and group classes with outstanding guest instructors.  We studied great Latin turning technique, the fundamentals of Bolero timing, how to do an enticing Bachata and even some theater arts choreography!  The time passed quickly, and we had a ton of great ideas to talk about on our long drive home.  We are looking forward to the next one!

“Aside from the great opportunity I had to finally complete my International Style fellowship degrees in the International Style, I was edified by the lectures I attended in both the American and International Style syllabi, as well as the new lecture in the Theatrical Ballroom Division.  It was also very satisfying to meet, talk with, and get to know the other professionals in the Society.  I encourage everyone to take advantage of the yearly Congress.”
